Made in troubled time, when Andy was adamant about getting off the touring hamster wheel, his contributions largely written in the first garden he ever owned. Lucious and rustic, a mixture of gentle acoustic and thoughtful electric material, XTC enmbrace further the widening palette of sonic colours opening to then in the studio. The departure of drummer Terry brought in the excellent Pete Phipps who filled the drum stool in his own unique and thrilling way, and the boys run the gamut from the hooves and the hay of 'Love On A Fram Boys Wages' and 'Great Fire' to the epic 'Deliver Us From The Elements' or the storming 'Funk Pop A Roll'.
